LOCATION - Spruance/Mylar Facility
 

The Production Supervisor for the Slitting and Finishing Area is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the slitting and finishing processes. This role provides direct supervision to hourly Process Experts, ensures achievement of safety, quality, production, reliability, and efficiency targets, and drives continuous improvement through strong leadership.

Responsibilities:

Stewardship:

  • Lead by example in enforcing all safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices
  • Conduct regular safety observations, inspection, and toolbox SQRE (Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Employee Engagemen) talks
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and company standards
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective actions

Operations:

  • Plan and execute daily production activities to meet schedule and customer requirements
  • Ensure proper setup, operation, and changeover of slitting equipment
  • Monitor production rates, downtime, and yields; take corrective action as needed
  • Coordinate with Scheduling, Logistics, and Maintenance to minimize disruptions

Leadership:

  • Directly supervise, coach, and develop hourly operators. training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work. 
  • Conduct shift start‑up meetings, daily huddles, and effective shift handovers
  • Support training, qualification, and cross‑training of employees
  • Address performance, attendance, and behavioral issues in alignment with HR and labor agreements and in a respectful manner. Address complaints, resolve problems, and remove roadblocks, directly impacting employee morale.  

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and escalate chronic equipment and process losses
  • Support MttC (Move to the Core) activities, including SQRE board meeting, discussing the risk of the day and identify measures to address the risks
  • Participating in 5S, and OPEX initiatives
  • Drive and sustain improvements using standard problem‑solving tools

Move to the Core Management and Accountability:

  • Maintain and utilize the SQRE board to manage daily performance
  • Ensure issues are clearly identified, tracked, and closed with owners and due dates
  • Escalate issues appropriately and follow up on commitments

Qualifications:

Educational Attainment:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations
  • Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of safety, quality, and production processes, preferably in slitting film
  • Day shift - 7:30am-4:00pm M-F. 

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to coach and engage hourly employees
  • Experience with slitting, finishing, or converting operations preferred
  • Familiarity with TPM, OPEX, Lean, or Six Sigma principles
  • Adjusts to varying demands; Deals effectively with new and different situations; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrates drive and energy to excel; Has perseverance and focus in the face of obstacles; Sets and achieves challenging goals; Measures self against standard of excellence
  • Maintains effective work performance under certain, unstructured and challenging conditions
