Job Summary
The Sr Project Manager at McKesson Medical-Surgical Inc. will lead complex, high-impact technology projects from initiation to closure, ensuring successful delivery within scope, schedule, and budget. This role involves collaborating with the Product Management team along with cross-functional stakeholder groups, managing their expectations, and driving strategic initiatives to enhance our medical-surgical distribution and healthcare solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for multiple concurrent, complex projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing, utilizing established project management methodologies (e.g. SAFe Agile).
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and resource requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and senior management.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, budgets, risk management strategies, and communication plans.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members, stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating to senior leadership as appropriate.
- Monitor project progress, performance, and financial metrics, preparing and presenting regular status reports to key stakeholders.
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Ensure projects adhere to organizational standards, policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FDA, ISO).
- Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior project managers and team members.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of project management best practices and tools within the organization.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. PMP certification is strongly preferred. Agile certifications (e.g., CSM, SAFe) are a plus.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 3 years managing complex projects within a large organization, preferably in the healthcare, medical device, or distribution industries.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, ServiceNow PPM).
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Experience with risk management, budget management, and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with change management principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
