The Director of Workforce Development provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and evaluation of workforce training and professional development programs. The Director cultivates strong partnerships with local industries, government agencies, and community stakeholders to ensure programming aligns with labor market needs and supports the university’s mission to advance economic mobility and career readiness.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with academic departments, continuing education units, and external partners to align programs with regional economic development priorities.
  • Develop relationships with business leaders, economic development boards, workforce investment boards, and other stakeholders to identify partnership and funding opportunities.
  • Oversee grant applications, program budgets, and reporting for workforce-related funding.
  • Promote equitable access to training programs for underrepresented and underserved populations.
  • Supervise workforce development staff, instructors, and administrative personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including those related to certifications, federal/state workforce initiatives, and funding agencies.
  • Coordinate job placement support, career coaching, and employer engagement events for program participants.
  • Represent the university at community events, industry roundtables, and workforce coalitions.

 

Education

  • Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Workforce Development, Business, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, higher education, continuing education, or economic development.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
