The role of Pressure Relief Valve Technician II involves performing advanced tasks related to the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of pressure relief valves and other equipment. Responsibilities include locating, using, and comprehending manufacturer installation and operation manuals, performing inspections to identify necessary corrective actions, and operating diagnostic equipment. The technician will also support Pressure Relief Valve Technician I employees through mentoring and on-the-job training, and may act in a leadership role for assigned areas.Â
ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Follow Company Quality Standardization Procedures for all aspects of valve assembly and testingÂ
- Locate, use, and comprehend manufacturer installation and operation manualsÂ
- Perform inspection to identify necessary corrective action as authorizedÂ
- Perform PMIÂ
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot valves and other equipment per applicable codes and standards per manufacturer and/or customer requirementsÂ
- Install instrumentation/accessories as necessaryÂ
- Operate diagnostic equipment (i.e., EVT, AVK, Hydroset, etc.)Â
- Perform calibration of measurement equipment in accordance with internal quality proceduresÂ
- Measure and record critical dimensions per manufacturer specificationsÂ
- Support Pressure Relief Valve Technician I employees through mentoring and/or on-the-job (OJT) trainingÂ
- May act in a leadership role for assigned areaÂ
Positional Requirements & QualificationsÂ
Education & ExperienceÂ
- HS Education or GED Equivalent a plusÂ
- 2 - 5 years of industry experienceÂ
Skills & AbilitiesÂ
- Meets all Pressure Relief Valve Technician I qualifications and requirementsÂ
- Successful completion of all applicable Quality Standardization ProceduresÂ
- Completed Green Tag Certification through Level IIÂ
- Completed inspection assessmentÂ
- Successful completion of Pressure Relief Valve Level II Written and Performance TestsÂ
- Completed Pilot Valve TrainingÂ
- Basic OSHA and TWIC card (TWIC, only if required)Â
- Demonstrate the ability to properly assemble and test valves/equipment of multiple pressure relief valve manufacturersÂ
- Demonstrate proficient use of precision dimensional equipment (i.e., dial caliper, micrometer, etc.)Â
- Demonstrate ability to bend and fit tubingÂ
- Complete certification training for use of Positive Material Identification (PMI) equipmentÂ
- Completion of diagnostic equipment training and/or certificationÂ
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating test equipment (steam, air, liquid)Â
- Demonstrate proficiency in calibration of test gauges and/or transducersÂ
- Complete certification of Certified Individual (CI)Â
- Effective oral & written communication skillsÂ
- Demonstrated “can do” attitude and excellent customer service skillsÂ
Essential Physical FunctionsÂ
- Lifting: up to 50 poundsÂ
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions Â
- Lift and carry: 50 pounds for 100 feetÂ
- Bending, stooping, walking and climbing stairsÂ
- Able to pass periodic medical evaluations and respirator fit tests to ensure continued compliance with OSHA standards.Â
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps Â
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces Â
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods Â
