What You’ll Do
As a Personal Assistant (DSP – Day Program), you will support individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, or chronic illnesses while promoting independence and community integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport individuals using your personal vehicle for appointments, work, and community activities
Assist with activities of daily living (grooming, bathing, toileting, hygiene)
Provide emotional support, behavioral guidance, and medical assistance as needed
Follow Individual Program Plans (IPP)
Teach life skills (mobility, workplace readiness, community engagement)
Accurately document daily activities and data
Report incidents and suspected abuse per legal requirements
Facilitate group and individual community integration activities
Attend trainings and staff meetings
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
6 months–1 year caregiving experience (professional or personal)
Age 21+
Valid California Driver’s License
Reliable vehicle with current auto insurance
Ability to pass background check & pre-employment screenings
Preferred (or willing to obtain):
DSP Year 1 & Year 2 Certifications
CPI Certification (within 6 months)
CPR/First Aid (within 30 days)
Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health needs
