Job DetailsJob Location: St. Andrew's Episcopal School - NC - Ridgeland, MS 39157Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolTravel Percentage: NegligibleJob Shift: 12 MonthJob Category: FacilitiesObjective:  To ensure the operational efficiency of the facilities and equipment by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on the campus plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct routine inspections and servicing of machinery, electrical systems, plumbing, and other equipment to prevent disruption and failure. Diagnose malfunctions in mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment and perform necessary repairs. Assist in upkeep of facilities to maintain the structural integrity of buildings, including repairing walls, roofs, doors, and lighting. Adhere to OSHA standards, school policies, and safety protocols. Check, correct, and report dangerous equipment conditions and potentially hazardous situations. Respond to facility emergencies, such as power outages, floods, or broken machinery. Assist maintenance team to complete work orders. Move and assemble furniture and classroom equipment. Take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of themselves and others. Assist in summer building clean up as directed. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.  Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear.  This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.  The employee is required to reach with hands and arms above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb on ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing these duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 lbs. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as furniture, tables, and cabinets.  Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, twelve-month position, and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm.  Frequent evening and weekend work will be required.Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.  Technical training or certifications preferred. Ability to pass a background screening. Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Strong analytical and problem solving skills to diagnose and solve issues. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and staff. Ability to work effectively and efficiently around students from ages 3-18.
