Production Group Leader – 2nd Shift
As a Production Group Leader, you will serve as the first-line leader, supporting team members within your designated area. Your primary responsibility will be coordinating daily operations to meet production schedules while ensuring your team’s success.
Shift Details:
- 2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
- Occasional PAID overtime on Fridays (1:00 PM – 9:00 PM) may be required (currently about 50% of Fridays are worked)
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and manage a team of 20-30 Production Associates.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging all team members to contribute.
- Lead with respect, ensuring professional and constructive interactions.
- Focus on waste reduction and skill development to enhance lean operations.
- Ensure all employees receive proper training in safety, quality, equipment operation, and 6S.
- Collaborate with technical staff to provide necessary support.
- Set and achieve annual goals aligned with operational metrics.
- Drive process improvements, reducing inventory and work-in-progress.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations concerns.
- Work closely with Union Stewards on contract and disciplinary matters.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Experience & Education:
- 1–3 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing Engineering, or Operations (preferred).
- Proven ability to lead with a servant leadership mindset.
- Internship, co-op, or relevant professional experience will be considered.
Skills & Abilities:
- Self-motivated and goal-driven, with strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Strong problem-solving abilities, encouraging proactive thinking and solutions.
- Knowledge of process control, production scheduling, Kaizen, Kanban, and Lean manufacturing (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stoop, bend, stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs without assistance.
