About the Role
Pherson is hiring a Content Subject Matter Expert/Instructor. You’ll serve as both an authoritative practitioner and a classroom instructor — designing, delivering, and continuously improving high‑impact security training reaching DoD, federal agencies, and industry partners. You’ll collaborate with instructional designers, curriculum managers, and fellow SMEs to translate complex security policy and operational practice into clear, engaging learning experiences across in‑person, virtual, and eLearning formats.
Note:Â
- Active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the senior subject matter authority and course manager for assigned curricula — owning the full lifecycle from needs analysis through delivery and sustainment.
- Design, develop, and maintain training products across modalities (ILT, VILT, eLearning, webinars, job aids, videos, mobile content, and performance support tools) using ADDIE and adult learning principles.
- Deliver basic and advanced instruction in your discipline in classroom and virtual environments.
- Partner with Instructional Systems Designers and Curriculum Managers to convert complex policy and operational concepts into instructionally sound courses and supporting materials.
- Conduct Training Needs Analyses; recommend and design new courses, products, and awareness campaigns as mission requirements evolve.
- Research and apply current security policies and authoritative references to keep content accurate, current, and compliant.
- Develop and refine training materials — storyboards, instructor and participant guides, scripts, knowledge checks, case studies, exercises, and job aids — tailored to varied audiences including students, executives, and managers.
- Lead or support transitions from classroom to virtual and blended delivery, integrating distance learning and micro‑learning where appropriate.
- Provide SME input for Alpha and Beta testing of new and revised products; recommend improvements based on learner feedback and outcome data.
- Respond to student and stakeholder inquiries with timely, authoritative guidance on course content and real‑world application.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of applied experience implementing and operating security programs in your area of expertise — OR eight (8) years of applied security program experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated mastery of the policies, practices, and operational knowledge within your security discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated SME credibility in one or more of security disciplines (Personnel Security, Industrial Security, Counterintelligence, Insider Threat, Information Security, Physical Security, etc.).
- Active SPēD certifications: SFPC, CDP, SAPPC, ISP, or equivalent.
- Experience delivering instruction in both in‑person and virtual/synchronous environments.
- Experience supporting LMS migration or training modernization initiatives.
