Description

 The Assistant Area Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations of multiple clinic locations throughout the Inland Empire region. This role partners closely with Practice Managers, Clinic Leads, and physicians to ensure operational excellence, exceptional patient care, financial performance, and team engagement.


The Assistant Area Manager serves as an extension of the Area Manager and helps maintain consistency in operations, coach leaders, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure company policies and standards are consistently followed.
Essential Responsibilities


Operational Leadership
   •   Support the oversight of daily operations across assigned clinic locations.
   •   Assist Practice Managers and Clinic Leads in achieving operational and financial goals.
   •   Monitor clinic workflows to improve efficiency, reduce patient wait times, and enhance the overall patient experience.
   •   Ensure provider schedules and templates are optimized and followed appropriately.
   •   Assist with staffing coverage and operational needs across multiple locations.
Team Leadership
    •    Coach, mentor, and develop Clinic Leads, and frontline staff.
    •    Provide real-time feedback and accountability while promoting a positive, respectful work environment.
    •    Assist with onboarding and training of new leaders and team members.
    •    Help identify high-potential employees for leadership development.
Patient Experience
    •    Promote a culture centered around outstanding patient care and service.
    •    Monitor patient satisfaction and assist with the resolution of complaints or service recovery opportunities.
    •    Ensure clinics maintain a professional appearance and operational readiness.
Financial & Performance Management
   •   Monitor key performance indicators including:
   •   Patient volume
   •   Provider utilization
   •   Wait times
   •   No-show rates
   •   Productivity
   •   Overtime

    •   Labor utilization
    •    Assist in implementing action plans to improve clinic performance.
    •    Support cost containment efforts while maintaining quality patient care.
Compliance & Quality
    •    Ensure compliance with company policies, HIPAA, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.
    •    Support quality initiatives and operational audits.
    •    Reinforce standard operating procedures across all assigned clinics.
Physician Support
    •    Build strong working relationships with physicians and providers.
    •    Help resolve operational concerns impacting provider productivity.
    •    Ensure provider schedules, staffing, equipment, and patient flow support efficient clinic operations.
Communication
    •    Serve as a liaison between clinic leadership and regional leadership.
    •    Communicate operational updates, priorities, and organizational initiatives effectively.
    •    Foster collaboration across departments and clinic locations. 

Requirements

Education
    •    Bachelor's degree preferred.
    •    Equivalent healthcare leadership experience may be considered.
Experience
    •    Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in healthcare operations.
    •    Multi-site leadership experience preferred.
    •    Ophthalmology experience preferred.
    •    Medical practice management experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
    •    Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
    •    Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    •    Ability to analyze operational data and make informed decisions.
    •    Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
    •    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    •    Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
    •    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Travel Requirements
    •    Frequent travel between assigned clinic locations within the Inland Empire region.
    •    Occasional travel outside the region for meetings, training, or business needs.
Physical Requirements
    •    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    •    Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
    •    Ability to work in a clinical office environment.
