Litigation Attorney

This position is counsel to policyholders and the Exchange in all legal proceedings, including trial and arbitration. It provides legal representation of Exchange policyholders to protect their interests in the defense of personal injury and/or property damage lawsuits.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes cases to determine all pertinent facts and develop appropriate legal theories/strategies in the defense of lawsuits.

  • Develops and implements appropriate discovery plans and motions, as needed. This includes propounding and answering written discovery, subpoenas, and review of records, taking depositions, drafting and opposing motions, retaining and conferring with experts, and obtaining witness statements.

  • Prepares for, attends and defends all limited and unlimited jurisdiction court proceedings including trials.

  • Position requires solid understanding of the law and its proper application to the facts of a case. Incumbent evaluates cases for both liability and potential exposure.

  • Prepares and defends arbitrations and trials.

  • Hybrid or remote


Qualifications

  • JD Required

  • 3--6 years Insurance defense law Required

  • Solid understanding of insurance contracts required.

  • Insurance defense experience preferred.

  • Good grasp of trial procedures and the rules of the evidence.

  • Valid Driver's License, acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles record and minimum liability insurance - Issued by State Required

The starting pay range for this position is:

$106,900.00 - $142,200.00
