The Manager, Production is responsible for the overall performance of the automatics department by developing and focusing organizational resources to continually add value to internal and external customers. The overall scope of the position is short to medium term planning within a fast-paced environment. The Manager drives all operations required for the manufacturing of Fabrication, Weld, SSW, and SSL department product families, including oversight from raw material management through to finished goods shipment, through direct leadership of department supervisors. Responsible for ensuring daily performance to KPIs in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, taking corrective action when targets are not met. Collaborates with Production Planning and Scheduling to adjust labor and equipment allocation. Owns the department’s Value Stream Map(s) and leads continuous improvement initiatives. Develops and presents reports on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Conducts process audits and leads Kaizen events. Manages staff assignments, training, vacations, overtime, absenteeism, and temporary employment. Designs and maintains training programs for new hires and tenured employees covering safety, SOPs, production updates, and product changes. Provides leadership and performance management including setting goals, recognition, feedback, and coaching. Acts as coach and mentor to encourage growth and ownership. Drives skill advancement and cross-training, promotes a learning culture, and standardizes operational knowledge. Investigates and documents incidents and performance issues, administers progressive discipline, and ensures policy adherence. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 10 years in Lean Manufacturing, 5 years leading teams, 2 years executing lean vision, and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP. Physical demands include sitting, talking, hearing, walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Work environment is a professional office setting. Up to 10% domestic travel required. Relocation not available.
