Providence Hall is a charter school located in Herriman, Utah. Central to the school’s mission is teaching students to think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly.


Providence Hall is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Full-time Route Driver to transport students to and from school on established daily routes while also supporting the transportation department with administrative tasks. This role is ideal for someone who is both safety-minded behind the wheel and organized in an office setting.


Route drivers play a critical role in ensuring students arrive safely and on time while maintaining a positive and professional environment on the bus. This position may also include transportation for field trips, activities, and athletic events, as well as assisting the Transportation Coordinator with day-to-day operational needs.


Drivers are responsible for student safety during loading, transport, and unloading; conducting routine inspections; and following all traffic laws and school policies. This role is essential to supporting our school community through reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety.


$500 sign-on bonus, paid after 90 days of successful employment

**If the school provides training and route to licensure the 90 days begins upon receiving your CLD and School Bus Endorsement**


Schedule

  • Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week during the school year
    • Which includes daily routes, field trips, after school activities, and other assigned duties.  


Responsibilities

  • Safely transport students to and from school on assigned daily routes
  • Maintain consistent, timely pick-up and drop-off schedules
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip bus inspections to ensure safety and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Keep the bus clean, orderly, and in good working condition
  • Safely load and unload students, including those with special needs or equipment
  • Monitor student behavior and maintain discipline consistent with school policies
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Respond appropriately in emergencies, including assisting with evacuation and providing basic first aid if needed
  • Maintain accurate records (mileage, time logs, inspections, etc.) as required by school and state guidelines
  • Assist the Transportation Coordinator with administrative and operational tasks, including:
    • Maintaining transportation records and documentation
    • Assisting with routing updates and scheduling
    • Supporting compliance documentation and reporting
    • Communicating route or schedule changes as needed
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and inspections
  • Support Providence Hall’s mission by serving as a positive role model for students
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, preferred. 
  • Providence Hall is willing to provide training and support for qualified candidates to obtain a CDL with school bus endorsement
    • Candidates who receive CDL training through Providence Hall may be required to commit to a minimum period of employment; employees who leave before fulfilling this commitment may be responsible for repaying training costs
  • Clean driving record; subject to background check and drug screening
  • Basic computer skills and ability to assist with administrative tasks
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to perform required safety and maintenance inspections
  • Previous driving experience preferred
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students in emergencies
