Freight Claims Intern - Riverview, FL

Job Summary

As a Freight Claims Intern, you will support the filing, reconciliation, and closure of freight claims. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in logistics operations, working directly alongside our claims team. You will learn the end-to-end claims process, interact with carriers and customers, and develop skills in claims software and freight industry fundamentals.

Please note that this is an on-site position at our office located at 2846 S. Falkenburg Rd, Riverview, FL 33578. The duration is May through early August, paying $15/hr. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. 

What You'll Do

• Review submitted claims paperwork for accuracy.
• Support the management of claims for an assigned set of customers.
• Assist carrier partners and customer service teams with investigations to determine whether a carrier claim exists.
• File claims using EZ Claims software and keep claim statuses current.
• Review carrier claim denials for accuracy and escalate issues as needed.
• Learn and apply NMFC, limits of liability, and carrier rules tariffs.
• Assist with carrier negotiations to resolve claims and achieve the best possible outcome for customers.
• Work alongside Sales and customer teams to address claims questions and support education efforts.
• Provide claim resolution details to management, customer service, and finance/accounting.
• Support claims accounting processes and assist team members as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor in emails and phone calls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive and persistent attitude with the ability to build relationships across departments and with external partners.
