Responsible for core duties of the Registered Dietician role within the organization.
- Participates in regularly scheduled conferences including department head meetings, Resident at Risk meetings and interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
- Provides technical guidance and administrative direction over diet planning, menu formulation, preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets.
- Ensures menus meet resident nutritional needs, preferences, and follow physician orders and regulatory guidelines.
- Interviews residents or family members, as necessary, to obtain diet history.
- Participates in maintaining records of the resident’s food likes and dislikes.
- Confirms that charted nutritional progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident’s response to the service.
- Visits residents periodically to evaluate quality of meals served, likes and dislikes, etc.
- For Registered Dietitians with one location, they provide timely and accurate completion of nutritional portion of MDS, CAA, Resident Care Planning, and Progress Notes as well as Nutritional Assessment, Nutritional Data Card, Diet Card and other requirements as per facility policy and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Monitors weekly and monthly weights and collaborates with nursing personnel to make appropriate recommendations.
- Monitors meals to ensure they provide nutritious, well-prepared, and palatable meals in a timely and consistent manner while adhering to menus and diet orders.
- Verify appropriate meals/snacks are served to residents with special dietary needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field required.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Dietician in a healthcare or skilled nursing setting preferred.
- One (1) to two (2) years management/supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of MDS, care planning, and clinical documentation standards.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations governing dietary and nutritional services.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
- Must meet state licensure requirements for a Dietitian (if applicable).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Computer skills are required.
- Meets all state and federal criminal background check requirements.
