Position Type: Full-Time; 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY

The Closer will be responsible for closing all loans according to the proper product type, investor, agency and internal guidelines, state and federal guidelines, and all ALCOVA Mortgage processes and procedures in an accurate and timely manner. The Closer is responsible for the accurate preparation of compliant closing documents to ensure that they are salable on the secondary market. The Closer will communicate with internal staff and outside agencies to facilitate all closing issues in a timely manner. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares closing documents based on loan product parameters and sends closing documents to settlement agency once loans are clear to close
  2. Balances Closing Disclosure with settlement agent and issues Final Closing Disclosure to be signed by Borrower at closing
  3. Clears any open loan conditions dependent on loan parameters

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE, AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Minimum of three (3) years of mortgage experience and a demonstrated willingness to learn 
  2. Prior mortgage closing experience is strongly preferred
  3. High School diploma, or equivalent experience; college degree preferred
  4. Knowledge of Encompass software strongly preferred
  5. Must have experience with closing State Agency Housing Loans 
  6. Working knowledge of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
  7. Highly motivated, ambitious, and driven to succeed
  8. Trustworthy, honest, and able to display a high-level of integrity
  9. Able to work effectively in a team environment
  10. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  11. Effective written and verbal communication skills
  12. Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

  14. Able to understand and respond appropriately to basic inquiries
  15. Able to read, write, and communicate using the English language sufficient to perform job functions
  16. Able to use standard office equipment including but not limited to telephone, copiers, scanners, computers, Internet, etc
  17. Able to access, input, retrieve, and interpret information using applicable computer systems, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, industry-specific computer software, etc.
  18. Able to multi-task (e.g., simultaneous usage of several applications, etc.)
  19. Well-versed with keyboard shortcuts and able to identity new ways to complete a task in less time
  20. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  21. Works well both independently and under general supervision
  22. Displays a degree of creativity and latitude.
  23. Able to handle deadlines and working within banking guidelines
  24. Able to recommend ways to improve closing processes
  25. Compliance with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) requirements is required. Employee must complete annual training in these areas

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This job operates in a clerical office setting based out of your home with climate-controlled surroundings, adequate lighting, and little or moderate noise when in the office. In this role, the individual routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
 
 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and photocopying is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 5 P.M. Evening and weekend work may be required, as job duties demand.
