Electrical Engineer – Power Distribution & Transformers

Seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the central engineering group at a well-established heavy
industrial manufacturer in Roanoke, VA. This role is focused on plant power distribution and
large-scale transformer systems, working closely with operations and maintenance in a
demanding environment where reliability and safety are critical.

Required
BSEE or BSEET
Heavy industrial environment – steel, mining, aluminum, foundry or power generation
Knowledge of power distribution including switch gear, transformers, AC/DC motors, motor control and drives
Experience with medium/high voltage equipment and substations
Experience managing a comprehensive transformer maintenance program

Responsibilities
Engineer and coordinate capital and non-capital electrical projects using plant personnel and contractors
Manage power distribution, lighting, cable and conduit installations and related electrical system improvements
Support and lead in-plant transformer maintenance and reliability programs
Assist production and maintenance departments with troubleshooting, process improvement and project support

Nice To Have
Experience with AC overhead cranes up to 200 tons preferred
Allen-Bradley and GE PLC experience preferred
