The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for coordinating and/or implementing pharmacy functions (processing prescription requests, pulling, filling, labeling, dispensing), ordering medications, training other volunteers/interns, and maintaining pharmacy operations. The Pharmacy Technician will also be responsible for answering phones, recording refill requests, and updating patient medical records.


The Pharmacy Technician will work 32-40 hours a week. This position would allow a flexible schedule with our hours of operation being Monday through Friday 9-5 and extended hours on Tuesday and Thursdays until 8 pm. 


DUTIES

·         Process prescription requests from patients both in person and over the telephone, including verifying patient            eligibility to receive prescription assistance.

·         Operate pharmacy software on computer to record and process prescriptions, pull requested medications,                        count and fill prescription and submit to pharmacist for review and hand out medications to patients.

·         Serve as the liaison between clinical staff and pharmacist as needed to ensure that the pharmacy operates                  effectively during all clinic sessions.

·         Communicate with clinical staff regarding medication issues that will impact clinic sessions.

·         Help maintain pharmacy operations by re-stocking supplies, checking-in and stocking medications, organizing charts, recording services to patients and other assigned duties.

·         Proactively keep supervisors aware of all pharmacy concerns and issues; and

·         Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


·         Must have Certification as a Pharmacy Technician, as recognized by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.

*          Minimum 3-5 years experienced preferred

·         Experience working on a team and ability to work independently.

·         Excellent communication skills with patients, staff, and volunteer health care practitioners.

·         Patience, understanding, and compassion in direct interactions with patients; and

·         Highly organized and detail oriented.

·         Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

·         Must be self-motivated with good organizational skills.

·         Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.

·         Must be able to handle confidential situations with tact.

·         Ability to work with computers, electronic healthcare records, email and calendar programs, other programs including Excel and Google Drive, etc.


BENEFITS:

Medical Insurance: Participating employees contribute 25% of the employee medical insurance premium while Bradley Free contributes the remaining 75%. Employees are responsible for 100% of dependents’ medical insurance premium. Employees who work 30 hours regularly will be eligible for medical on the first of the month following 60 days.


Dental Insurance: Participating employees contribute 25% of the dental insurance premium while Bradley Free contributes the remaining 75%. Employees are responsible for 100% of dependents’ dental insurance premiums. 


Employees who work 30 hours regularly will be eligible for dental on the first of the month following 60 days.


Vision Insurance: Participating employees are responsible for 100% of the insurance premium. Employees who work 30 hours regularly will be eligible for vision on the first of the month following 60 days.

401K: Bradley Free Clinic will match employees’ contributions 100% up to 3% of the employee’s annual salary and 50% on the next 2% of the employee’s annual salary. Employees are eligible to participate once they attain age 21 and have 1 year service with the company. You will enter the plan on the first day of the month on or after you meet the eligibility requirements. Our 401(k) plan has a three-year cliff vesting schedule. This means you are always 100% vested in contributions you choose to defer; however, you must remain employed for three (3) years to be 100% vested in any employer matching contributions; there is no step vesting schedule.
