Reports to: Post Closing Manager

Department: Post Closing

Location: Corporate Office - Roanoke, VA

Position Type: Full-Time; 40 hours per week 

Supervises: None

FLSA Classification / Type: Non-Exempt / Administrative

Pay Range: $16.00 - $17.00

POSITION SUMMARY

The Post Closer Assistant reviews loan documents for compliance, completeness, and accuracy. The Post Closer Assistant is tasked with obtaining missing information, preparing files, and providing support to internal and external customers. The Post Closer Assistant will utilize mortgage concepts, practices, and procedures that have been standardized by management to facilitate efficiency.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review closed loan packages for accuracy and completeness
  2. Communicate with settlement agents, brokers, and other counterparties to obtain missing information and documentation for the closed-loan package
  3. Input information into Encompass, Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Veterans Administration (VA), and Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS) programs
  4. Contact Closing Attorneys, Underwriters, Loan Officers, Processors, and/or other applicable parties to resolve issues in loan files and obtain appropriate documentation
  5. Revert to Processing Department for any missing documents needed
  6. Perform Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Closing Disclosure (CD) reviews and provide specific documents to closing agents to allow funding authorization
  7. Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the process
  8. Coordinate with the Lender and Escrow company/companies on final loan documents if any errors occur
  9. Follow-up and manage trailing documentation within the specific timeframes provided

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Knowledge of Encompass software preferred but not required
  3. Highly motivated, ambitious, and driven to succeed
  4. Trustworthy, honest, and displays a high-level of integrity
  5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  7. Effective written and verbal communication skills
  8. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  9. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. 
  10. Able to understand and respond appropriately to basic inquiries
  11. Able to read, write, and communicate using the English language sufficient to perform job functions.
  12. Ability to use Company equipment in assigned areas (including but not limited to telephone, copiers, scanners, fax machines, computers, internet, etc.)
  13. Able to access, input, retrieve, and interpret information using applicable computer systems (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, industry-specific computer software, etc.)
  14. Able to multi-task (e.g., simultaneous usage of several software applications, etc.)
  15. Well-versed with keyboard shortcuts and able to identify new ways to complete a task in less time
  16. Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  17. Works well under general supervision
  18. Able to handle deadlines and working within banking guidelines
  19. Able to recommend ways to improve post-closing processes
  20. Compliance with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) requirements is required. Employee must complete annual training in these areas

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a clerical, climate-controlled office setting with adequate lighting and low to moderate noise. In this role, the individual regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is largely a sedentary role, as responsibilities rely on computer-based knowledge and skills; however, some occasional filing and photocopying may be required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
