Job Description

As a Security Officer - Unarmed Duty Patrol in Roanoke, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer at a utilities location, you will conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols, support access control and badge checks, and document security-related activity using computer or tablet tools. You will remain highly visible to help reduce incidents, respond to service calls, and communicate clearly with employees and visitors. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to personnel and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utilities location.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of grounds, buildings, parking areas and perimeter, including checks of gates, doors, fencing, lighting and critical infrastructure areas to help to deter unauthorized activity.
• Control access by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, directing deliveries and/or contractors to approved areas and documenting entries and exits per site requirements.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications, supporting evacuations and/or area restrictions, and coordinating with local responders as directed.
• Complete detailed reports on patrols, access activity, incidents, hazards and maintenance concerns, and communicate updates to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

• Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Guard card or license is preferred.
• Access control or badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
