What you will do

Johnson Controls is hiring! The Service Engineer will support our fielded magnetic bearing products and will provide technical support to our customers in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of Synchrony products. You will also lead root cause investigations while interfacing with the customer and other Synchrony departments, including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Engineering. This position is onsite based in Salem, VA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility, or able to relocate. Various relocation packages are available.

How you will do it

  • Leads the service effort for fielded products.

  • Acts as first-level support for customer product issues in factory and field.

  • Delivers outstanding service to internal and external customers with a communication style that is professional and courteous.

  • Perform root cause investigations (using 8D as a problem-solving tool) and present findings to engineering, quality, service, and manufacturing personnel.

  • Manage and maintain the RMA database.

  • Analyzes data, creates reports and communicates customer feedback. This includes, but is not limited to, product failure rates, MTBF, statistical process control and other metrics identified by the Management Team.

  • Generates production documentation for RMA and repair / rework utilizing the ERP system.

  • Identifies, supports and tracks Corrective and Preventive Action plans.

  • Helps to organize and track non-conformance and RMA inventory.

  • Performs internal audits and assists in preparation for external audit reviews.

  • Communicates with department heads to recommend methods for improvement.

  • Participates in quality-related projects for improvement and reliability initiatives.

  • Consistently supports and demonstrates Synchrony mission and values.

  • Perform other duties as directed by leadership.

What you will need
Required

  • 3+ years’ experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis within a manufacturing environment

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to lead technical discussions

  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical system

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; Associate’s degree or trade school certification also accepted

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $95,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
