Radiological Technician (Rad Tech)- PRN

Schedule: PRN (as needed), with a minimum requirement of 30 hours per month, including one weekend per month and two holidays per year.

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is a 45-bed hospital that has served rural and suburban populations in Roaring Spring, Altoona, and parts of Blair, Bedford, and Huntingdon counties for 121 years. With a state-of-the art cardiac catheterization lab, Conemaugh Nason offers a range of inpatient and outpatient cardiac services close to home. The hospital provides 24/7 emergency care as an accredited chest pain center, and offers comprehensive outpatient, imaging, diagnostic, and specialty services. How you’ll contribute 

  • Identify patients by name and birth date. Reviews order for clinical and demographic consistency and verify accuracy.
  • Interviews patient for clinical history, reviews of previous procedures and documents relevant history for the Radiologist.
  • Explain procedures to patients. Explain and obtain consent for contrast if needed.
  • Prepares patient for procedure ensures prep performed if needed and checks for any artifact-producing objects. Correctly position patient for examination to be performed.
  • Orders/performs correct examination.
  • Performs procedures in accordance with established protocols and in a timely manner.
  • Correctly operates radiology equipment.
  • reparation/administration of oral and IV contrast.
  • Performs venipuncture utilizing sterile technique (for those with the competency).
  • Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
  • Follows ALARA principles: wears film badge, uses patient shielding, repeat rate, etc.

What we’re looking for 

  • Must become ARRT registered within 3 months of hire if not already registered.
  • BLS within 3 months of hire.
