Job Summary:

Pirc-Tobin Construction is seeking individuals to join our project crews in Alburnett, IA as a Backfill Operator.  This position is for an individual who is self-motivated, positive, and team and safety-oriented, who can operate heavy equipment for jobs such as (but not limited to) underground pipe installation, grading, and street reconstruction. When not operating equipment, individuals must be willing to perform physical labor wherever needed.

 

Applicant must pass a drug test prior to working.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Demonstrates safe and proficient operation of heavy equipment associated with duties related, but not limited to, underground pipe installation, grading, and street reconstruction.
    • Have the appropriate required training to perform jobs such as main line pipe installs, removals, fine grading, truck loading, and other associated tasks.
    • Must understand how to maneuver around obstacles and buried utilities, without direct supervision from management.
    • Read blueprints, grade stakes, and utility locates.
    • Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
    • Maintain the cleanliness of the equipment.
    • Work safely around other equipment, crews, and live traffic.
    • Work a full-time schedule with overtime during construction season as follows:

 

-- Seasonal work, March - December -- Monday - Friday, 7:00-5:30 with possible weekend work -- 40-55 hours/week, depending on weather--

 

Education, Experience & Training Requirements:


    • 1000 hours minimum of safe and proficient operation of various heavy equipment
    • Must hold a valid insurable driver's license - Class C minimum and a clear driving record
