JOB TITLE: Head Coach, Women’s Flag Football

POSITION SUMMARY: Rochester Christian University invites applications for the founding Head Coach of Women's Flag Football. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-driven leader to build a new NAIA program from the ground up, establishing culture, systems, and competitive identity from its inaugural season forward. The Head Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the program, including recruiting, roster development, competitive scheduling, budget management, and the spiritual and personal formation of student-athletes, consistent with RCU's Christ-centered mission.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in management, sports administration, or related field
- 1–3 years of athletic management experience, preferably at the college level
- Working knowledge of NAIA, conference, and collegiate compliance procedures preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the strategic launch and ongoing development of the Women's Flag Football program, including roster-building for the inaugural season.
- Recruit, evaluate, and retain student-athletes who fit RCU's academic standards, competitive goals, and Christian mission, in alignment with per-head enrollment and net-tuition-revenue goals.Â
- Plan and conduct all practices, training sessions, and competitive game strategy in accordance with NAIA and WHAC rules and regulations.
- Develop and manage the program's operating budget, equipment, travel, and scheduling in coordination with the Athletics Business Office.
- Ensure full compliance with NAIA, WHAC, NCCAA, and RCU institutional rules, policies, and eligibility requirements.
- Mentor and disciple student-athletes, integrating faith and athletics consistent with RCU's Christ-centered mission and character-development priorities.
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and program support staff as the program grows.
- Collaborate with Admissions, Student Financial Services, Academic Affairs, and Compliance to support student-athlete recruitment, enrollment, and academic success.
- Coordinate team travel, lodging, and game-day logistics in partnership with the athletics operations staff.
- Represent RCU professionally within the WHAC, NAIA, and NCCAA, and build relationships with regional high school and club flag football programs to grow the sport's pipeline.
- Engage in fundraising, community relations, and program promotion in partnership with the Advancement and Marketing offices.
- Uphold and model RCU's institutional mission, values, and Statement of Faith in all program operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics & Strategic Enrollment.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Staff supervision
- Hire, onboard, and supervise assistant coach(es) as the program grows beyond year one
- Conduct performance evaluations of assistant coaches and any support staff (e.g., student managers, graduate assistants)
- Set practice plans, game-day assignments, and recruiting territories/responsibilities for assistants
- Approve staff time off, travel, and scheduling conflicts Student-athlete oversight (a quasi-supervisory function in college athletics)
- Oversee team captains and any student leadership structure
- Monitor academic progress and eligibility in coordination with Compliance and Academic Affairs
- Enforce team conduct standards, attendance policies, and RCU's Statement of Faith/community expectations
- Oversee locker room, travel, and off-campus conduct supervision during team activities Operational/budget supervision
- Approve and monitor spending against the program's per-head budget allocation (tying into RCU's existing tiered incentive model)
- Oversee equipment managers, film/video staff, or student workers assigned to the program
- Supervise game-day operations staff assigned to home flag football contests (in coordination with Athletics Operations)
Compliance supervision
- Ensure assistant coaches and any recruiting-involved staff follow NAIA/WHAC recruiting rules
- Sign off on eligibility certifications and roster compliance.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel regularly for practices, competitions, and recruiting.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move actively on a practice or competition field for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of equipment (up to 25 lbs.).
