Job Description Summary

Dauch is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Rochester Hills, MI. In this role, you will calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and control systems to ensure testing equipment operates accurately and reliably. The ideal candidate has strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills, experience using test equipment and hand tools, and a commitment to precision and continuous improvement. Experience with servo-hydraulic systems is a plus.

Job Description:

  • Take general daily job direction and self-execute without direct oversight of supervisor.
  • Maintenance and repair of AC and DC drives.
  • Calibration and repair of Servo Hydraulic Controllers. 
  • Calibration of analog and digital controllers and instruments.
  • Tuning of electrical and hydraulic control loops.
  • Maintains test equipment calibration data such as recording calibration data points and verifying calibration meets requirements.
  • Arranging for outside calibration services.
  • Creation and maintenance of instrumentation data in PLM (Product Life Management) and IPF (Integrated Plant Floor) systems.
  • Repair and build of wiring harnesses/cables.
  • Set up and teardown of mechanical fixturing for force calibrations
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Contribute to engineering and organization success by readily adapting to change; continuously seeking opportunities to improve.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years experience in the mechanical, electrical or automotive testing field.
  • Basic mechanical skills for working with calibration mechanical set ups.
  • Ability to read electrical/electronic schematics. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment and systems at board level.  
  • Computer Literacy / Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications. 
  • Analytical abilities to solve complex multi failure mode equipment issues.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills. 
  • LabVIEW Software Programming knowledge a plus.
