Job Summary

Our Construction Management team is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector for construction supervision and management of highway structures projects. This position will report to the Resident Engineer and will require 5+ years of bridge/highway/structures construction experience. The candidate will be responsible for supervision and inspection of construction work and monitoring of contractor activities for compliance with all state/district and federal laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Inspect and supervise construction activities and ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.

  • Coordinate material testing, review contractor submittals, requests for information and coordinate with the contractor.

  • Prepare and maintain submission logs.

  • Coordinate contractor’s Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) setup and ensure compliance with approved plans and local agencies requirements.

  • Understanding permit requirements and ensure compliance on construction sites.

  • Prepare daily inspection reports and assist RE in preparing monthly progress reports.

  • Perform contract documentation duties, which may include field measurements of pay items as well as daily inspection reports. Assist RE in preparing contractors pay certificates.

  • Assist RE in arranging meetings, preparing meeting minutes and follow up action items.

  • Coordinate activities with onsite inspectors and inform Resident Engineer of construction progress and problem area progress and problem areas.

  • Provide technical supervision and assistance to Resident Engineer. Provide guidance to onsite inspectors.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Must meet the following requirements

    • Be National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certified

    • Associate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

    • Minimum of 5+ year roadway or bridge construction experience

  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, data entry and scheduling programs.

  • Proficient in Site Manager

  • Following certifications are preferred:

    • ACI Certification, Asphalt and Pavement marking insulation,

    • Traffic Control Coordinator (TCC)/ Flagger certification

    • Osha 10 safety course
