We are seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Mechanic for Rochester (NY)

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support the company’s Product Stewardship initiatives by contributing engineering expertise to ensure product health, safety, and environmental performance across the full lifecycle.

  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan, document, review, and analyze maintenance activities, including work orders, notifications, labor hours, and performance feedback.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, contractors, vendors, and instrumentation & electrical teams to diagnose equipment issues, support repairs, and improve process reliability.

  • Design, specify, or support the fabrication and modification of mechanical components, applying knowledge of machining and hand tools and working with various materials as required.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement discussions with engineers, supervisors, and production personnel to enhance best practices, optimize workflows, and proactively identify and mitigate hazards.

  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste, particularly during maintenance activities involving piping, leaks, or equipment servicing, in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

  • Provide engineering oversight or operational support for the use of material handling and access equipment such as forklifts, work trucks, scissor lifts, and manlifts, as required.

  • Plan, execute, and review preventive and corrective maintenance programs in alignment with Maintenance Schedules, SOPs, ISO standards, Safety requirements, cGMP, PSM, and applicable regulatory guidelines.

  • Perform and/or oversee a broad range of mechanical engineering activities, including the installation, repair, modification, and optimization of facility systems such as pumps, piping, power transmission components, hoists, and related equipment.

  • Support and verify safe startup and shutdown procedures for equipment, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

  • Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to equipment layout changes, upgrades, or replacements, utilizing P&IDs, engineering drawings, manuals, and approved engineering and maintenance procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; equivalent technical experience may be considered.
  • Professional certifications or licenses (e.g., Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE), OSHA safety training) are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, analysis, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including piping, pumps, motors, conveyors, rotating equipment, and facility infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and developing P&IDs, engineering schematics, technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience utilizing CMMS or engineering maintenance software to plan, document, and optimize preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills to diagnose mechanical failures and improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and maintenance processes, with the ability to specify, select, and evaluate tools, fabrication methods, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines, support field operations, and provide engineering guidance during planned maintenance, shutdowns, and emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as required to support project deadlines, commissioning activities, and critical maintenance needs.

The expected salary range for this role is $58,000- 93,000 annually, but specific employee compensation may vary depending on factors including experience, education, training, licensure, certification, location and other job-related, non-discriminatory factors permitted by law.    

   

This role is also eligible to earn a short-term incentive bonus and the following benefits: 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, paid holidays and paid sick leave.  

This role is also eligible to earn a bonus and benefits as defined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
