As a Cashier, you are often the first and last person our customers interact with, making you an important ambassador of our mission and values. Through outstanding customer service, accurate transactions, and a welcoming presence, you'll help create a positive shopping experience while supporting programs and services that strengthen our community.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome customers with a friendly and enthusiastic greeting and provide exceptional customer service
  • Process transactions accurately using the cash register
  • Properly package merchandise and ensure accurate payment collection
  • Promote Goodwill's Round-Up Program and invite every customer to make a donation at checkout
  • Maintain an accurate cash drawer and follow all cash-handling procedures
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment throughout the store
  • Support other store functions through cross-training opportunities, including sorting, pricing, stocking, and merchandising merchandise

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred, but not required
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and understand receipts, schedules, policies, and other workplace documents
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent customer service

Work Schedule & Availability

  • Open and flexible availability preferred
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required
  • Schedule may vary based on store needs

Work Environment

This position is based in a retail store environment. Team members may occasionally be exposed to outdoor conditions while assisting with donations and may work in the donation processing area, which has a warehouse-like setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequent walking and movement throughout the store
  • Regular bending, reaching, stocking, and merchandising activities
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise and equipment safely
  • Frequent handling of merchandise and cash transactions
