$24.91 - $34.87

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

The Neurology TAR Chaplain provides comprehensive spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers affected by serious neurologic illness and supports research initiatives. The clinician offers individualized spiritual care services, participates in interdisciplinary team collaboration, participates in research studies, and offers guidance to faculty and staff struggling with spiritual/existential issues, and contributes to research efforts related to spiritual and emotional health.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Spiritual Care Clinician: Deliver comprehensive spiritual care services, including anticipatory grief and bereavement support, as well as counseling (e.g., pain reprocessing) for individuals and families affected by serious neurologic illness. Serve as part of a transdisciplinary care model, providing both outpatient and interdisciplinary team-based care. This includes managing scheduled outpatient clinic visits, documenting encounters in Epic, and offering ongoing follow-up as appropriate. Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, participate in weekly IDT meetings, monthly Champion meetings, departmental retreats, and maintain continuing education in both neurology and spiritual care.
  • Research: Participate in research studies focused on providing spiritual and emotional support interventions and contribute to projects examining spiritual perspectives in palliative care. This includes participation in clinical trials involving chaplain-led or spiritual interventions and contributing to the assessment of spiritual well-being in clinical research contexts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in Div from accredited seminary and at least 4 units of ACPE/Clinical Pastoral Education required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience offering spiritual support required
  • 1 year of experience in Palliative or Hospice care preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to be a source of spiritual support to patients and their families (e.g. partners and significant others), preferred
  • Experience using technology in writing patient notes and complete ongoing hospital training preferred
  • Experience working in a team-based environment preferred.
  • Experience with UR HRPP, or be able to complete such training within 3 months of hire preferred.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Board certification as a chaplain with SCA (Spiritual Care Association), APC, NACC or NAJC or Board Certification eligible upon hire required
