Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes (GFL) The CFO serves as a senior strategic partner and executive leader, delivering timely, accurate, and actionable financial information to inform strategic and operational decision-making. This role champions efficient design and operation of financial systems and business processes, promotes prudent stewardship of resources, and safeguards fiscal integrity through robust internal controls and comprehensive risk management.
The CFO reports to the President & CEO, with direct reports including Finance, Real Estate & Risk Management, Facilities, and Information Technology.
Key focus areas include strategic financial leadership that aligns with GFL’s mission and growth objectives; transparent, data-driven reporting and forecasting; strong internal controls, risk assessment, and compliance; effective stewardship of organizational resources and capital; and oversight of financial systems, technology, and real estate/risk management.

Essential Job Functions:
- Financial Leadership: Manage all aspects of accounting and finance, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while aligning operations with Goodwill’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Reporting & Insights:Â Deliver clear, actionable financial updates to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Leadership, offering recommendations to enhance organizational performance.
- Strategic Planning:Â Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial strategies, identifying risks and opportunities to fuel growth.
- Collaboration: Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to drive profitable growth, both within existing operations and through innovative social enterprises.
- Analysis & Efficiency: Provide proactive financial analysis—tracking KPIs, assessing variances, and evaluating service performance—while leveraging IT expertise to implement cutting-edge software solutions.
- External Representation: Build and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, investors, auditors, and public officials, representing Goodwill with professionalism and confidence.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards, oversee cash flow and asset management, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the organization’s resources.
- Team Leadership: Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, mentoring your team to align with Goodwill’s vision.

Education and Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- At least 10 years in a senior or executive leadership role, with a proven track record in financial management.
- Minimum of 5 years as a CFO, COO, or similar executive position, overseeing a budget of $100M or more.
- 3+ years in high-level management, with expertise in strategic financial planning and execution.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products and management information systems.

- Exceptional leadership and decision-making abilities, with a knack for mentoring teams and fostering a positive culture.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and drive strategic initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and oral—to present ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
- High organizational aptitude, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage cross-functional projects.
- A calm and collected demeanor in high-pressure situations and a willingness to take on responsibility.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $195,000 – $210,000 per year.
- Benefits:Â Dental, health, life, and vision insurance, plus NYS Paid Sick, and unlimited vacation time.
- Incentive Opportunity:Â Target is 15%
