CNC MACHINIST - B-SHIFT

Advantech Industries, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturing company based in Rochester, New York, specializing in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly services. The company, founded in 2002, serves multiple industries, including defense, medical, and aerospace, and operates out of a 250,000-square-foot facility. 

 

We are currently seeking an individual to collaborate with us as a CNC Machinist on our B-Shift. Hours are Monday – Thursday, 3:45pm – 2:15am. The CNC Machinist - B-Shift is responsible for the set up and observation of machines to verify the accuracy of the machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, by using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.  Additionally, the CNC Machinist - B-Shift is responsible for the setup and controlled operation of computerized deburring and tooling machines to perform a variety of machining operations, which include drilling, chamfering, and deburring. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sets up machine and observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and caliper. Experience working with Mazak and Haas CNC machines is preferred
  • Sets up and controls operation of computerized deburring and tooling machine to perform series of machining operations, such as drilling, chamfering, and deburring.
  • Inspects "first part", and inspects work pieces throughout the production run for out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Clean machine and work area.
  • Provide aid and guidance to machine operators with less experience or skill. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • With limited supervision and quality work ethic, functions as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved
  • Holds oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes
  • Maintains adequate levels of performance and motivation despite job tasks that are routine, repetitive, and/or non-stimulating
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directives
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific CNC mills and CNC lathes to be operated with the ability to calculate and set machine controls either manually or by entering commands
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ability to keep record of time spent and material used
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, read drawings and blueprints, and be familiar with common machine and measuring tools, including micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals 
  • A HS Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of previous CNC setup and operation experience
  • Experience on Mazak or Haas Machines preferred 
  • Alignment with the requirements and principles of the Advantech Quality Management System and ISO 9001: 2015
  • Capacity to handle changes in business operations and adjust to new situations
  • Preparedness to stand for extended periods, life heavy items, and operate equipment

 According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $23.00 - $37.00 / hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
