To ensure the preparation of food for residents and staff while maintaining high standard of quality food production and dining room service.  

Maintains infection control, sanitation and safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To respect and deliver services to client as needed and as indicated by the director of dietary services         
  • To assist in maintaining client dietary needs as prescribed by doctor’s orders. Maintains client dietary needs as prescribed by doctor’s orders  with no significant            
  • discrepancies to meet standards.             
  • To maintain high sanitation standards as described by the Dietary Policy & Procedure  Manual (DPPM)        
  • To maintain food storage, labeling and stock rotation as described in the DPPM.                                    
  • To assist in security systems set by the director of dietary services.                                        
  • To prepare all food products within standards established by the Dietary Menu System.                            
  • To assist in team training of new employees and vocational employees/clients.                                    
  • To participate in quality assurance of all dietary products and services.                                        
  • To adapt to change and situations as needed.                                                
  • To report unsafe working conditions to the director of dietary service and kitchen manager. 
  • To adhere to facility policies and procedures.                                                    

Qualifications

  • Skill, Knowledge and Abilities: Must possess maturity and tact when dealing with others. Ability to work within the Dietary Team concept.
  • Education:  Able to read and write in English.  Prefer high school diploma or G.E.D. and prior experience in food service.                                                                  
  • Experience:  Minimum of one (1) year of on-the-job training required for proficiency.                                                                              
    • Demonstrates respect and cultural sensitivity for patients/residents with respect to food related issues.  
    • Responses are age appropriate to patient/resident.
    • Consults Clinical Dietitian on modified diets, as necessary.    
    • Demonstrates competency when determining serving size.
    • Responds appropriately when an individual refuses to follow their diet and demands what is on the menu. Or wants more food and it is not on their diet.
    • Is knowledgeable regarding location of individual diet information.  Checks regularly to ensure for department compliance.
    • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of established dietary guidelines, modified diets, etc.  Consults manuals when questions arise regarding dietary issues.
    • To maintain Lakeview requirements regarding vaccination, including but not limited to Influenza and COVID-19.
    • To adhere to Lakeview Infection Control Policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, hand hygiene, isolation, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
