Description
- Teach a small group of students and individuals inside and outside of the classroomÂ
- Prepare and execute lessons and resourcesÂ
- Assess the students’ work done in classÂ
- Develop and adapt individualized teaching methods that are suitable for each studentÂ
- Use special tools and equipment provided to stimulate an interesting learning environmentÂ
- Use special skills to teach children Braille, sign language or lip readingÂ
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to build a better learning environment for the childrenÂ
- Update parents on their kids’ progress and give recommendations to promote a better learning environment at homeÂ
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Special EducationÂ
- Certification in Students with Disabilities (Birth-2) or Permanent Certification.Â
- At least one year of experience with children ages birth to five preferredÂ
- Interest in working with children with developmental disabilities is required.Â
- Candidates must have a valid NYS driver’s license, automobile and active auto insurance.Â
Physical Requirements:Â
- Duties require extensive standing and walking.Â
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.Â
- Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.Â
