Who You Are
The Facilities Technician is responsible for providing technical support and coordination within the Facilities Department, ensuring the maintenance of interior and exterior building services, as well as delivering preventative maintenance in compliance with state, local, and regulatory requirements.
How It’s Done
- Monitor, diagnose, and repair facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, and cranes.
- Develop specifications for preventive and predictive maintenance performed by external vendors and support the execution of these activities.
- Manage and resolve daily facility-related issues through the work order system (Facilities Quick Track [FQT], Eptura CMMS).
- Partner with the Facilities Manager to support special projects such as construction, equipment selection, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Perform repairs and modifications to facility-related equipment and fixtures, including doors, furniture, plumbing systems, filters, and cranes.
What You Need
- High School Diploma & GED
- Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on facilities or related experience
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, compressors, and general maintenance tools/equipment
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, security systems, landscaping, food services, and housekeeping operations
- Knowledge of MIOSHA regulations, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), with an understanding of environmental compliance requirements
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Ability to travel between buildings as required
What Would Be Even Better
- Completion of a Trade or Technical School program
- Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on facilities or related experience
- Experience managing facility contractors, including construction, electrical, HVAC, housekeeping, and landscaping services
- Proven ability to develop and write specifications for facility-related services such as housekeeping, HVAC, electrical, and landscaping
- Experience with HVAC controls programming
