Schedule

This position is for our B Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM (Midnight), with weekends based on business need

Candidates must be willing to train on our A Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM 

  • Training may last up to three months, depending on your learning pace and readiness to transition independently to the B Shift.


Summary/Objective:

 

Under the direction of the Kit Packing Manager, the Kit Packing Supervisor works to ensure all jobs are shipped out on time and in an orderly manner. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide daily direction to Line Leads once schedule is set.
  • Review first piece sample with Customer Service at the start of the job to verify specifications and assembly requirements.   Verify sample is present at the start of production.  
  • Set up production lines for kit packing projects. Work with Receiving to organize and stage all material required for production by job.   
  • Work to ensure that quality requirements are understood by employees on the kit packing line. 
  • Coordinate first piece and during run quality checks with Quality team.
  • Set the standard and communicate to all workers the required hourly output needed to complete each project.  This is based on the quoted hours for all projects.
  • Work with Line Leads to optimize efficiencies. Reviewing: Assembly processes (assembly line vs piece work), Distance traveled, Start times, down time, and Best in Class manufacturing processes.
  • Work with Line Leads to complete scorecards and document hours charged to job.
  • Analyze efficiencies on the line (actual vs estimated).
  • Facilitate orderly breakdown and put away once jobs are complete. 
  • Train Flower City Group employees, as well as temporary workers, and communicate their responsibility in adhering to the four operating principles:    Safety, Quality, Delivery and Flexibility.
  • Ensure that the plant is always kept in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Work with Facility Manager, as well as the Human Resources Department to maintain a supply of candidates to fill openings as workflow dictates.  Maintain an up-to-date phone contact list.
  • Assists the Facility Manager with additional tasks as requested. 
  • Performs all other tasks/duties as may be assigned by Manager.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to sit, regular use of hands.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk. 
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machine. 
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
     
    The employee must be able to work under pressure with ever changing deadlines and priorities.


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Proven success in a warehouse or fulfillment environment
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Strong background in production/manufacturing scheduling

 Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A two-year degree or equivalent from a technical school
  • Two (2) years of work experience or an equivalent of four (4) years in the industry
