The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Receives, sorts, and routes mail. Performs all functions relating to the University community bulk mail operation. Determines proper receiving office and forwards or returns to sender in accordance with pre-determined instructions.

SCHEDULE

  • 8:00am to 4:30pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receives, sorts, and routes all types of mail, including mail which requires some interpretation of location, recipient, and postal class. Records and signs for packages. Sorts and processes University interdepartmental mail. Loads mail bags and handles materials required to complete tasks.
  • Records postage due and business reply mail on appropriate logs. Weighs, presorts, and applies postage on all University outgoing mail. Sorts by zip code on bulk mailings.
  • Conducts customer interaction and retail transactions, including money handling.
  • Makes searches to determine proper receiving office and forwards or returns to sender in accordance with pre-determined instructions or own judgment.
  • Sets up, makes minor adjustments, and operates all mailroom equipment necessary to complete tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma and 1 year of related experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to use scales, meters, machines for bundle tying, stamping, addressing, inserting and folding, computer terminal, and cash register required
