The Registered Dietitian will support the U.S. Coast Guard’s Future Sentinel Preparatory Course (FSPC), a three-week program designed to help civilian volunteers overcome physical fitness and body composition challenges. You will provide expert nutritional guidance, medical nutrition therapy, and performance nutrition to ensure recruits safely and effectively meet Coast Guard entry standards.

Location: USCG Training Center Cape May, 1 Munro Ave, Cape May, NJ 08204
Program: Future Sentinel Preparatory Course (FSPC)

Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week (typically Monday – Friday), with potential for occasional weekend or evening sessions.

Key Responsibilities

• Nutritional Assessment & Planning: Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for recruits and develop individualized nutrition plans focused on weight management and performance.
• Education & Counseling: Provide one-on-one and group counseling on sports nutrition, healthy eating habits, and meal planning tailored to the rigors of military training.
• Program Integration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (fitness instructors, medical staff, and leadership) to align nutrition goals with physical training schedules.
• Data Management: Track recruit progress regarding body composition and fitness milestones, providing weekly nutritional assessment reports to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
• Compliance: Ensure all nutritional interventions adhere to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards and Coast Guard health mandates.
• Administrative: Assist in the development of a Project Plan and Business Continuity Plan to ensure the long-term success of the nutrition program.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Credentialing: Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Licensure: Must hold a current, valid license to practice dietetics in the State of New Jersey.
• Experience: Proven expertise in medical nutrition therapy and performance/sports nutrition is highly preferred.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to motivate recruits and the ability to work effectively in a structured military environment.
• Citizenship/Security: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a background investigation for access to a federal installation.

Physical & Environmental Demands

• Work is primarily performed at the Training Center Cape May.
• Must be able to navigate a military campus environment to interact with recruits in dining facilities, classrooms, and training areas.

Deliverables

• Weekly nutritional assessment reports for all assigned recruits.
• Annual submission of updated professional qualifications and licenses.
• Development of a Final Contractor Project Plan within 30 days of the post-award conference.
