The soft matter and microfluidics group at Mayo Clinic, led by Dr. Connie Chang, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop innovative microfluidic technologies for molecular diagnostics and biomedical applications.
Â
The ideal candidate will have expertise in microfluidics and/or molecular biology, with an interest in integrating molecular biology workflows into miniaturized, automated microfluidic systems. In particular, we are interested in candidates with experience in drop-based (droplet) microfluidics and the ability to perform or develop molecular biology assays within droplets.
Research areas include:
•    Microfluidics and drop-based/droplet microfluidics
•    Disease diagnostics and biomarker detection
•    RNA, DNA, and protein detection, and quantification
•    Molecular biology in droplet-based microfluidic systems
•    Miniaturization and automation of molecular bioassays
•    Integration of sample preparation, amplification, detection, and quantification on microfluidic platforms
•    Development of novel microfluidic technologies for high-throughput and single-cell/molecular analysis
Â
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: droplet microfluidics, molecular biology, nucleic acid amplification, RNA/DNA analysis, protein assays, molecular diagnostics, assay development, microfluidic device fabrication, or integration of biological assays with microfluidic platforms.
The position offers an opportunity to work at the interface of microfluidics, molecular biology, and biomedical diagnostics, developing new approaches for rapid, sensitive, and miniaturized molecular analysis.
