About the role

The Senior Project Engineer plays a critical role in delivering capital projects and process improvements for Kerry’s Beverage network. This role leads and supports engineering, systems integration, and operational efficiency initiatives that improve safety, quality, reliability, and productivity.

The position supports multiple projects across one or more facilities and requires strong collaboration with operations, maintenance, quality, and external partners. Projects span process, packaging, and infrastructure investments, from early concept through commissioning and handover.

Based in Beloit, WI or Byesville, OH. 50% travel, depending on project location.

Key responsibilities

Ā 

Capital Project Leadership

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒLead process and facility capital projects from concept through start-up and closeout.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒManage projects from a technical, financial, and manpower perspective in alignment with company standards.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒDevelop project scopes, estimates, schedules, and execution plans.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒJustify, implement, and close capital projects up to $5MM+.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒCreate initial project estimates and timelines for early-stage evaluation.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒPrepare and submit capital requests in accordance with corporate governance requirements.

Engineering & Technical Execution

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒParticipate directly in the design and development of process and packaging projects in beverage facilities.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒIdentify and evaluate equipment and process options to meet business objectives.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒObtain, evaluate, and recommend contractor bids; select suppliers aligned with project and company needs.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒInitiate purchase orders and manage vendor relationships throughout execution.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒDirect installation, commissioning, qualification, and verification activities.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒEnsure engineering solutions align with global engineering standards, including sanitary design, ergonomics, employee safety, and food safety.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒEnsure all safety, quality, regulatory, and environmental standards are met or exceeded.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒApply company standards for food processing, including sanitary design, operational efficiency, health, safety, and sustainability.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒSupport GMP compliance across food, beverage, and (as applicable) pharmaceutical operations.

Operational Improvement

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒIdentify operational improvement opportunities and initiate cost-saving initiatives.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒPartner with plant teams to analyze and improve productivity, reliability, and throughput.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒBe present on the manufacturing floor to support execution, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements.

Project Controls & Communication

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒDevelop and maintain detailed project schedules and cost tracking.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒPrepare reports and updates for management and project stakeholders, including budget status, contractor activity, and schedule progress.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒLead project meetings, including design reviews and project reviews.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒCommunicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbal, with contractors, plant personnel, peers, and leadership.

Collaboration & Leadership

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒCoordinate internal teams and external contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒServe as a hands-on project leader working across cross-functional teams.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒFoster a positive, innovative, and collaborative work environment.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒComplete additional assignments and initiatives as requested.

Qualifications and skills

ā€ƒā€ƒBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Industrial, or similar).

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒ7+ years of Project and/or Process Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, aseptic experience preferred.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒ7+ years of experience leading capital projects, including cost estimating and schedule management.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒDemonstrated experience identifying and implementing process improvements to increase capacity and efficiency.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒStrong working knowledge of project management tools and documentation.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒExperience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, MS Project, Excel, and Microsoft Office.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒAbility to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, site and elevation drawings, and utility systems.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒHands-on, results-oriented project leader with strong organizational skills.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒExperience in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒKnowledge of GMP requirements.

ā€¢ā€ƒā€ƒExperience with utilities, wastewater systems, boilers, control systems, bulk tanks, and sustainability initiatives.

The typical base salary hiring range for this role is $88,100 to $144,800 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
