The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE
Provides direct American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) as assigned throughout the University to patients, their families and others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides required interpretation at scheduled times or upon emergency request.

  • Receives assignment of appointments and may schedule appointments for provision of interpretation.

  • Maintains required records.

Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree required

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience interpreting in a health care setting preferred


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • RID - Interpreter for the Deaf Licensure and adherence to tenets within the RID Interpreter Code of Professional Conduct upon hire required

  • Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) or similar National Certification upon hire preferred
