Where You Come In
The Quality Control / Safety role is responsible for overseeing stair production quality and ensuring every staircase meets Summit’s standards before leaving the shop. This role works closely with stair builders to maintain craftsmanship, accuracy, safety compliance, and production consistency while supporting a safe and efficient work environment.
What You’ll Do
- Support stair builders throughout the fabrication process
- Inspect completed stair systems before shipment to ensure quality, accuracy, and code compliance
- Verify measurements, layout, assembly, and finish quality of stair components
- Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to confirm production accuracy
- Identify workmanship issues and coordinate corrections before product release
- Ensure all stair systems meet company quality standards and local building code requirements
- Monitor shop safety practices and reinforce safe operation of tools and equipment
- Conduct routine safety checks and promote proper PPE usage throughout the facility
- Maintain organized inspection records and communicate quality concerns with production leadership
- Assist with process improvements to increase consistency, efficiency, and product reliability
- Lead weekly safety meetings and necessary documentation.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in stair building, millwork, woodworking, or related construction trades
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Leadership ability with experience supervising or mentoring production employees
- Knowledge of safety procedures, OSHA standards, and shop best practices
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift 50+ lbs
- Lean Manufacturing/ Six Sigma preferred.
Pay & Schedule
- Full-time position
- Monday through Friday 7 am-3:30 pm, with occasional overtime
- Compensation based on experience and qualifications
