It might be the best decision you make this year.    Job Summary: The Recreation Therapist assists with all aspects of Recreation Therapy, a service designed to improve or maintain physical, cognitive, social, and emotional functioning, in order to facilitate full participation in life. The unique job functions outlined are designed with a focus on safety and quality. Key Responsibilities: Provides accurate information regarding resident progress to the Director of |Recreational Therapy Ensures resident safety during all activities Organizes, implements, and supervises Recreation Therapy activities in accordance with the treatment plans Attends Treatment Team planning and critical reviews as assigned to assure communications are maintained between residential, clinical, and administrative staff regarding recreation services. Plans, organizes, and implements special events Ensures resident hygiene needs are met by completing requisition forms for necessary items including hair cut/ cosmetology needs and monitors resident hygiene boxes for cleanliness. Also ensure all hygiene items are given to residents at time of admission. Creates and posts monthly calendar detailing recreation schedule/ activities Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with goals and interventions for achieving desired outcomes Provides documentation in the clinical record of residential behavior, and interventions provided (and their effectiveness of treatment) using the format and time frame approved by New Hope Treatment Centers. QualificationsAdditional Responsibilities: Completes other related tasks as assigned May require evening, weekend, and holiday work Participates in staff growth and development activities Provides direct resident care as needed on and off campus Participates in staff in- service and training programs Serves as a member of the Treatment Team Essential Characteristics: Demonstrates strong and written and verbal communication skills Demonstrates an understanding of child and adolescent developmental issues All Recreation Therapists must have a current CTRS Certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (ideally in Recreation) with CTRS Certification and a minimum of one year experience in Rec Therapy  #NHTCNCSC
