Sign Language Interpreter High School

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support one high school student in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This is a meaningful opportunity to work one-on-one with a student, helping ensure full access to instruction, communication, and participation in the school environment.
The student has a vision impairment and is currently enrolled in an occupational credential program, making this a unique opportunity to support both academic learning and career-readiness skills.
Position Overview
As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will provide interpretation services for a single student in a high school setting, facilitating communication between the student, teachers, peers, and school staff. You will help ensure the student has equal access to classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities while supporting their participation in a career-focused occupational program.
Key Responsibilities
Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for classroom instruction and school activities
Support communication between the student, teachers, and peers
Assist the student in accessing course materials and instructional content
Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication strategies
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accurate communication at all times
Support the students participation in their occupational credential program
Qualifications
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred
Experience supporting students with visual impairments preferred but not required
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to support students in both academic and career-focused learning environments
