Illinois Casualty Company is growing, and we have an opportunity for an Application Developer to join one of the leading providers of insurance protection for the food and beverage industry. 

The Application Developer designs, develops, implements, documents, analyzes, and tests internal application software according to ICC software development policies and procedures in order to allow end-users to work more efficiently and effectively. The Developer is responsible for supporting existing infrastructure as well as developing new technologies. This position reports to the DBA or Application Development Manager and may serve on inter-departmental project teams.


Essential Functions 

  • Developing, testing, and implementing internally developed application software from technical specifications and according to our coding standards and to our policies and procedures
  • Generating and maintaining system documentation to describe existing processes and applications, packaged solutions, as well as internally developed application software additions, changes, and enhancements
  • Performing unit testing of applications before the changes are sent to QA testing
  • Designing and developing user-driven templates, databases, and interfaces for ease of use
  • Providing user support through problem resolution by analyzing, researching, and providing corrective action for all assigned problems and/or enhancements
  • Maintaining and enhancing existing applications 
  • Documenting code, writing technical notes and keeping track of changes
  • Participating in dynamic priority setting sessions with the IT team
  • Additional duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in computer science or related field, with strong grasp of programming and database concepts, and website development including:
    • Oracle PL/SQL 
    • Oracle Forms
    • Oracle Reports
    • Python
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 
      • C#
      • ASP.NET
      • Silverlight / Expression Blend
      • Team Systems
    • SOAP
    • SOA
    • Crystal Reports
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation and reports
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to accurately perform complex mathematical functions as necessary to make projections, identify and analyze problems
