Overview

Full Time, 1.0

First Shift; 8:00am-4:30pm + occassional weekend hours for instrument maintenance

 

Join the UnityPoint Health – Trinity Laboratory team as a Laboratory Scientist – Anatomic Pathology (Non-Credentialed) and play an important role in supporting quality patient care.

Under the direction of the Laboratory Managers and Lead Technologist, you’ll perform laboratory testing while following established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Your work will help provide accurate, timely results that support patient diagnosis and treatment.

 

In this role, you will:

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality laboratory testing within trained and competency-verified areas and required turnaround times.
  • Follows established methodologies, procedures, protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Completes accurate documentation of testing, QC, troubleshooting, maintenance, training, and competencies in MediaLab®.
  • Performs accurate patient, specimen, and aliquot identification and labeling with strong attention to detail.
  • Completes capillary and venous specimen collections for patients of all ages, as needed.
  • Uses assigned computer programs and laboratory technology effectively.
  • Participates in ongoing training, in-services, and continuing education to maintain skills and stay current with new technologies.
  • Applies sound independent judgment to ensure accurate, quality patient care.
  • Follows all laboratory safety practices to minimize risk of injury or exposure to biohazardous materials.
  • Communicates effectively with leadership and healthcare team members and assists with training new team members.

Qualifications

Education:

 

Bachelor's degree in a Chemical, Physical, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution. 

 

Experince:

 

College or post-graduate laboratory experience. 

 

 

License/Cerifications:

 

Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work related reasons.
