Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Technician 2 for Golconda Marina/Dixon Springs. This position will use their skills to maintenance and repair the site buildings, grounds, and equipment, and operates truck with air brakes and trailer with a GCWR of 26,001 or more pounds to transport equipment to and from the site. This position will also assist with sales, safety, and security of the sites. We welcome interested applicants who would like to be part of this team to apply today.

Essential Functions

  • Under direct supervision, regularly carries out semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of site grounds, site buildings and equipment associated with site operations at Golconda Marian and Dixon Springs State park.
  • Makes, maintains, and installs signs
  • Perform routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment by changing oil, fluids, filters, spark plugs and belts
  • Performs semi-skilled cyclical and routine maintenance work to site buildings, and public use areas by performing a wide range of duties associated with various building trades
  • Assists with sales and the safety and security of the sites
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing
  • Two (2) years of experience following written and oral instructions
  • One (1) year of experience informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulations
  • One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation
  • One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping

Employment Conditions

  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
  • Requires a valid and current Class A Commercials Driver's license with air brakes designation
  • Ability to obtain pesticide operator's license within 6 months of employment
  • Physical ability to operate and maintan tools, equipment, and materials utilized in the maintenance, repair, and care of site resources, buildings, and grounds
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds
  • Ability to walk over rough and broken terrain
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification
