SIS provides shared HR services across Nichols Brothers and Everett Ship Repair — two core companies within Ice Cap Holdings and the Pacific Northwest maritime industry. If you live in Marysville, Mukilteo, Everett, Lynnwood, Bothell, or the surrounding area, getting here may be easier than you think. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role where you'll work side by side with supervisors, tradespeople, and administrative staff every day. You'll handle meaningful HR work — employee relations, supervisor coaching, compliance, onboarding — and you'll also own the operational details that keep an HR function running smoothly: managing incoming mail, serving as the first point of contact on our main phone line, maintaining records, and keeping things organized and moving. We're looking for someone who takes pride in the full scope of this work — because doing the small things right is what earns the trust to do the bigger things well. For those who live on the mainland, why commute to Whidbey Island? ✔ Ferry fare paid by the company ✔ Just 12 minutes from the Clinton ferry terminal ✔ A relaxing ferry ride instead of congested freeway traffic ✔ Work in a beautiful waterfront community with a slower pace and less stress ✔ Home every night—no relocation required   What You'll Do People & Leadership Support Serve as the trusted, go-to HR resource for employees and supervisors across the shipyard Support employee relations matters — conflict resolution, performance concerns, disciplinary processes — with sound judgment and a steady hand Coach supervisors on how to have hard conversations, document issues, and lead their teams more effectively Coordinate 90-day and annual performance review cycles Support recruiting: postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and hiring decisions Assist with training coordination and workforce development initiatives   Operational & Administrative Administer onboarding, benefits, leaves of absence, and personnel changes through HRIS Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in both electronic and paper formats Generate HR reports and track workforce data — turnover, absenteeism, staffing trends Ensure compliance with federal and Washington State employment law Reinforce company policies, safety standards, and workplace expectations Serve as the primary point of contact for the shipyard — calls, mail, and visitors Support the day-to-day needs of a busy HR office Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, maritime, or industrial environments Strong employee relations and coaching skills Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site setting Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS required SHRM-CP preferred Pay Range: $34/hour - $42/hour Benefits Competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, health savings account and 401(k) with match Paid time off and Employee Assistance Program Group Life Insurance with Optional supplemental life and disability insurance Strong culture of learning with state-certified apprenticeship programs Opportunity to support a highly skilled workforce building complex, custom vessels     Shared Ice Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
