This position is responsible for inspecting and documenting part dimensions internally and externally, maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Other duties include setting up and running machines and working with management for QMS requirements.
Job Duties:
- Measures completed parts using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates or rulers.
- Inspects incoming parts that were machined, flame cut, bent, or laser cut by outside suppliers.
- Initiates the NCR process when material does not conform to specs.
- Performs inspection on all parts prior to heat treat operation.
- Maintains inspection equipment, calibrating each tool according to the specified schedule.
- Sharpens tooling as needed, prior to use.
- Uses forklift and/or overhead crane to move material to and from machine work center.
- Sets-up CNC and manual machines by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, vises, fixtures, tie downs, attachments, collets, stops, bar feeders or bar pullers.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces while adhering to company standards. Completes first piece inspections.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Cleans and lubricates machine and records maintenance performed.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Reports defective tools and equipment.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Work Experience:
- Two years of experience inspecting parts to print
- Experience managing a calibration process a plus
- Five years of experience on CNC equipment
- One year of experience using a forklift
- One year of experience using an overhead crane
Minimum Skill Requirements:
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems with nonconforming parts
- Proven ability to edit existing programs and test new ones
- Proven ability to use tooling
- PC proficiency sufficient to enter data into an ERP system and use MS Office to create and edit documents
Physical Requirements: Employee is frequently required to walk, stand, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, bend, reach overhead, crouch, kneel, and push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to see with corrected vision to nearly 20/20 or better.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to heat or cold, depending on the season. The noise level in the work environment can be periodically loud.
