Child Welfare MSW /BSW placement requirements:
- Fall/ Spring placement 15-20 hours a week.
- Must be able to start in the summer for training. One day in June, July, and August.
- Must be available for group supervision, bi-weekly team meetings, and agency trainings.
- Must be able to work one evening per week.Â
- Agency cars are available, but use of personal car may be necessary.
- Must provide proof of current car insurance.
- Must feel comfortable, after a training period, to supervise parent/child visits and intervene in the visit when necessary.
- Must feel comfortable with in home family visits.
- Pass criminal and CANTS (DCFS) background check.

- DCFS policy and procedure.
- Trauma and loss work with children.
- Juvenile court, DCFS ACR and legal screening process, Facilitating a Child and Family Team Meeting.
- How to document contact.
- Developing a service plan and visitation plan.
- Interview skills.
- Mandated reporter training.
- Trauma / loss training.
- Foster parent recruitment.
- Return home, adoption or guardianship process.
