This position is responsible for the procurement of commodities through the development and implementation of commodity strategies and the management of supplier relationships. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, supplier selection and management, expediting and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Monitors the PMR and WCP reports to identify needs for materials, parts and outside services
- Enters purchase orders (PO) based on various sources documents originating from several departments. Issues POs using available technology and approved methods
- Works in conjunction with INQC and stockroom personnel to address incoming nonconforming goods and services and initiate the SCAR process when appropriate
- Receives, reviews and reconciles PO acknowledgement. Verifies supplier has accepted the PO and will fulfill to specs. Addresses variances directly with the supplier, engaging the SCAR process when appropriate
- Expedites coming due and late material
- Manages special pricing from selected suppliers
- Secures supplier quotes for parts and materials and submits estimates to Sales for use in sales quoting activities
- Receives steel price updates from suppliers and updates the system as appropriate
- Performs a two-way match between the receiving document and PO and enters results into the system for payment. Surfaces and works to resolve variances with the supplier, engaging the DMR process when appropriate
- Manages the Caldwell supply chain by aggregating and analyzing the spend and negotiating best pricing with selected suppliers. Consolidates and expands the supplier base to meet the production needs
- Develops and manages supplier metrics, sets targets or deactivates poor performing suppliers when appropriate
Minimum Requirements:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
- Certification in supply change management or purchasing preferred
- Five years experience as a buyer for purchased parts and raw materials.
