Overview

  1.  Uses an appropriate problem-solving approach to plan services 
  1. Provides cleaning support to non-patient areas without direct supervision 
  1. Cleans and maintains storage areas ensuring they are free from waste and debris 

 

  1.  Provides services with consideration of the physical, psychosocial, cultural/spiritual, and age-specific needs of those served 
  1. Cleans patient rooms adequately and in a timely manner according to department guidelines 
  1. Cleans exam rooms adequately and in a timely manner according to department guidelines 

 

  1. Uses equipment and supplies correctly 
  1. Demonstrates proper use of equipment by providing quality floor care in their assigned areas 
  1. Cleans and maintain department equipment used in the daily completion of job duties 

 

  1.  Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures 
  1. While cleaning, the Environmental Aide checks the rooms for inoperative furnishings or fixtures, and reports problems to the department director 
  1. Collects trash and soiled linen from assigned areas, transporting to collection or disposal site 

 

  1.  Teaches, directs, advises and informs others in an appropriate manner 
  1. The Environmental Aide assists their supervisor with training of new employees 

 

  1.  Reports and records information correctly 
  1. After cleaning patient rooms, the Environmental Aide signs off that the rooms have been cleaned and leaves a tent card in each of the rooms 
  1. Answers and responds to pages in a timely and courteous manner 

Responsibilities

ADDITIONAL SKILLS: 

Effective communication skills. 

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Constant exposure to chemicals; infectious situations; exposed to blood, body fluids, and their associated odors; frequent stressful situations. 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   

  1. Medium work 
  1. Lifting 50 pounds maximum  
  1. Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighting up to 25 pounds 
  1. Good vision and depth perception 

 

 

AGE GROUPS SERVED:  All ages from birth to senior adult. 


Qualifications

Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.  Experience preferred from a professional setting. 

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS: 

Effective communication skills.
